Welcome!

Hi everyone,

The glowball tourney hosted by Quartz Hill Chamber of Commerce was a great success.  The brief thunderstorm hit at around the perfect time – after dinner and before players took off for the back nine in the dark.  Of course, our gung-ho crew of Shirley, Jann, Shonda and Tim had to fare the weather to set up the glow markers on the course, but the players stayed (mostly) dry.

Interested in an October Glowball Tourney?

Several of our golfers were unable to make the tourney, and requested we hold another glowball tournament in October.  If you are interested, please fill out the signup sheet at the clubhouse or call us at (661) 946-1080 so we can add you.  We need at least 24 players and October is just around the corner, so don’t hesitate.  We’ll be making the decision on the tournament by the end of this week.

Summer Sizzler Special Ends Soon

Summer is ending, so that means our popular Summer Sizzler Special ends as well;  when Fall starts on Friday, Sept 22nd, 50% off green fees between 12-3 will be over.  Come out and enjoy this great deal during its last few days!

News from the Clubhouse

Nice, a few days with rain, lightning and thunder. Not all day but just enough to help the course and still have golfers play without getting soaked. We had a glow ball tournament out here on the 9th of this month, they had to delay their back nine in the dark because of lightning, rain and thunder but when it seemed like it was calm enough a few who remained went out and played. We are considering having another glow ball tournament in Oct if you are interested we have a signup sheet in the pro shop at the desk. We also want to know if you would want food and a raffle or just to go out and play 9 in the day light and 9 holes in the dark.

We still have our “Summer Sizzler” special going until the 22nd of this month, then autumn begins and the days get shorter and start getting darker earlier. Our open and close hours will also change accordingly to the daylight. Our twilight and 9 holes plus will also change as the days get shorter.

Stop in and eat we after you play or before and even during, we have hot dogs, polish dogs and on the weekends a crock pot full of chili cooking, along with a full variety of beers and sodas. Not in the mood for a meal there are all kinds of snacks available to take out on the course. Need tees, balls, ball markers shirts, hats and gloves come in next time you’re out here and look around, don’t see what you are looking for ask us and we will try and get it for you.

Please call or make a tee time, you can do this up to 2 months in advance. By doing this it assures you a time and day to start and not have to wait or go to the range which for some the range would be a great starting point to the game. Speaking of the range we have Range Cards $49.95 for 30 days of unlimited use of the range. You can choose any size bucket, spend the day if you need that much practice or drop in once or twice a week. Practice is good “Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated”

We have a Men’s Club that play Tuesday, Thursday 8:00am and Sun 7:00am come out and play as a guest with them to see if you would like to join. They play a variety of games and have quite a few members.

We try and keep everyone updated on any tournaments we may be hosting at the course for info call the pro shop and they will give you the times and days if we have any scheduled.

If you’re in a group of 5 which is up to the discretion of the starter you must let faster players to go through unless the course is so full there is no room or empty tee boxes. Remember everyone wants to finish their round and not have to wait and wait or have a round of 9 holes take forever.

Golf Tips

Make Windy Putting a Breeze

From Golf Magazine (www.golf.com), here are some suggestions for putting in the Antelope Valley (under windy conditions):

When putting in the wind, it’s easy to become distracted and lose your concentration – not to mention your balance.  The key is to anchor yourself to the ground and stabilize your stance.  Take your normal putting address position, then spread your feet wide, so that your heels are outside your shoulders.  Now grip down on the putter so that your fingers are almost touching the metal portion of the shaft.  These adjustments will lower your body’s center of gravity, helping you stay “connected” to the ground and making it easier to putt with stability and confidence.
