Welcome!

Hi everyone,

With the high temperatures of this summer, our maintenance crew has had a lot to tackle.  Please continue to help them out by repairing your ball marks on the greens, and fixing your divots on the tee boxes and fairways.  If everyone makes two repairs for every ball mark/divot they create, the course (and all our golfers) will really benefit.

Please stay hydrated when you are out on the course.  We are more than happy to give you ice on request. We also now offer SIP enhanced waters, both alkaline and electrolyte water to hydrate and replenish.  SIP waters are produced and distributed by SHE Beverage, a small local company, so give them a try and support a Lancaster business.

Thanks to all of you who have given us great reviews on social media.  It helps us a lot and we appreciate your support.

Book Your Next Tee Time ONLINE

Have you tried booking your tee time online?  Our online reservation system is a fast and simple way of scheduling your tee time 24/7.  Book two months out in advance for golf or footgolf, regular or senior, twilight or nine holes plus, we can handle it all!  No credit card required, simply schedule your tee time online and pay at the course 15 minutes prior to your scheduled tee time.

Thanks to all who have reached out with questions/comments.  Please continue to do so by filling out a suggestion card in the clubhouse, or sending us feedback via your digital receipt.

Thank you for your support!  And please let us know if there is anything we can do to help improve your experience at Rancho Sierra.

News from the Clubhouse

Wow July sure came in with a bang, day after day with the heat in the high 90’s and triple degrees and with the humidity, it’s not giving us a break. Our poor night water guys are having to battle the heat and the winds. They are trying not to get too many puddles but if you do come across them, please don’t drive the carts through them;  it tends to make tire tracks that stay there when it dries up and no one wants to find their ball in a manmade tire track. No mud whomping out there please!

When you make a divot on the fairway please try and fix your divot.  If you don’t and the next player doesn’t, we won’t have much of a fairway left.  Also those high perfect shots onto the greens produce another ball mark – we can’t stress on how important it is to fix those. There is fairway sand & seed on the rental carts and on those 2 par 3’s it is in the boxes. Keep the course nice and the person behind you will see and maybe do the exact same thing as you. Every little fix helps.

We will be hosting two tournaments in Sept so please look at the signs we post on the door and around the clubhouse.  We do close the course and we don’t want you driving out and not being able to play.

We show PGA tour events on our TVs in the club house so you can always come early and play and then come inside where it is cool with your friends and have some cool refreshments and something to eat. We have plenty of Beer most flavors and hot dogs, polish dogs, chili and sandwiches.

“There is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing” and right now light cool clothes and lots of sun block!

Mens Club News

The Rancho Sierra Mens Club has quite a few events planned for the rest of the Summer.

Our next away trip is scheduled for August 11 when we will be guests of Crystallaire Country Club in Llano. Non-members are more than welcome to play along with us! Green fees and tee time TBA. An optional side pot will be offered for low scores and closest to the pin contests. You can sign up on the board in the clubhouse or contact us by email.

The Rancho Sierra Club Championship will begin on August 5 and continue on August 12 and August 19. The Club Champion will be determined by the lowest total of your 2 best net scores on those three days. The winner will be eligible to play in the SCGA Low Net Tournament of Club Champions to be held in Palm Springs in December. Good luck to those who have entered.

Other events coming up to be announced:

  • Labor Day Monday Mulligan Tournament – You get one mulligan on each hole!
  • The Fall Classic – Partners/Best Ball tournament, September 16
  • Away Outing/Tournament at AV Country Club in September
  • Mid-week Special Event Tuesday, October 2
  • Golfer of the Year tournament – October 14
  • Points Tournament – November 4

Become a member, (if you’re not already), and you can join us for these wonderful events. Membership dues is only $50 – the lowest in California! Your membership is valid for a full calendar year! After you’ve posted a few rounds, you will be given a certified Golf Handicap thru GHIN which is valid at any course in the United States.

Do you already have a GHIN handicap through another club? Then you can become an associate of the Rancho Sierra Mens Club for only $20! Associates are eligible to play with the Mens Club events, including the Major Tournaments. Ask one of the officers on how to become a member or associate or ask the Rancho Sierra starter for a membership application.

Do you ever get confused at some of the rules of golf? Yeah, me too. Beginning in January 2019, some of the rules in golf will become simpler and more user friendly. Some of the changes: No penalty for hitting the flagstick when on the green, no penalty for inadvertently striking the ball twice with one stroke, and you will be able to ground your club in a hazard. More details as the year progresses.

If you have any questions, please email us or visit us on Facebook.

Don’t forget the ultimate golf etiquette.  Respect the course, your fellow players, yourself and the game of golf.

Tips from Our Pro

What’s New & Exciting?

Hopefully your Drivers have been popping – Wedges…stopping and Putts…dropping!

For many of you who spend a little time on the driving range/putting green areas and happen to practice next to the lesson bay…You will hear the term “Good Miss!” quite a few times. You are probably left with – “What does that mean?”

My philosophy is that golf is a game of misses and whomever has the best misses during a round usually tends to have the lowest score at the end of the day.

It’s this easy:

When lag putting – Think that speed is probably as important if not more important then direction, You can be 2-3 degrees off with the putter face and still be in fairly close to sink a second putt if necessary – But if your speed is off by 3 to 4 feet will you be guaranteed a 2 putt? You rather be next to the cup with a tap in instead of a knee knocker 4 foot comebacker. “Good Miss!”

When chipping – Pick a landing spot which will allow your ball to break toward the target and leave you 6 to 8 feet from the pin. That’s 1 putt territory! “Good Miss!”

Fairway Shots – We tend to overestimate how far we hit our second and third shots from here and come up short on a regular basis. Over club a little and ensure you make it on the green in regulation. It’s amazing how much shorter our first putts are from here. “Good Miss!”

Last thought – And probably the least important club in your bag. Your Driver…YES you read that right! Its the club which you use 15% of the time or less on the course but you give it 85% of your attention. Learn to hit this at 75% to 80% of your normal energy and watch the drives stay straighter and sometimes even become longer due to the accuracy of the strikes on the club face. If it’s not working during your warm up – The best place for this club is going to be in the trunk of your car. Learn to alternate tee shots with fairways and irons. (Break it down: If you have a club which you can hit 170 yards three times in a row…That’s 510 total yards…How many par 5’s do you play that are over 510 yards?) That’s no longer a Good Miss that is Great Course Management and Common Sense! After all aren’t we the most intelligent species on this Earth?

Be Good To Each Other!
